2P 3×6 inline Tactile switch is an inline tactile switch with two pins (2P) and the size of 3mm×6mm. Users can trigger the switch with just one press, which is easy and fast to operate.

The Structure of 3*6 DIP Tact Switch

The switch usually consists of five main parts: cover plate, button, shrapnel, base and pin. Among them, the button is the external force applied, the shrapnel is the key component of the switch, responsible for realizing the on-off function of the switch. The pin is the connection between the switch and the circuit and is used to transmit the switch signal to the circuit.

How the tact switch work?

Conduction and cutoff: When the switch button is pressed, the shrapnel is deformed by the external force and contacts the solder pad downward, which makes the two sets of pins of the switch conductive, and the circuit shows the on state. When the external force is withdrawn, the deformation of the shrapnel restores the original state and detaches from the solder pad, the two sets of pins of the switch no longer conduct, and the circuit shows a cutoff state.

Feedback Mechanism: Tactile switches usually give the user a perceptible “click” or tactile feedback when pressed, indicating that current is flowing. This tangible feedback gives the user a sense of assurance that the switch has been operated and a signal has flowed.
