DIP Switch Quality Assessment Criteria

A Dip Switch is a type of electrical SWITCH commonly used for settings and configurations in electronic devices. When evaluating the quality of DIP Switches, several key factors should be considered. Below are the major criteria for assessing the quality of DIP switches:

  1. Copper Plate Thickness:

    • Purpose: To improve current carrying capacity and reduce the resistance of the copper parts.

    • Explanation: The thickness of the copper plate directly affects the switch’s ability to carry current. A thicker copper plate can better conduct electricity and reduce heat generation caused by excessive resistance.

  2. Anti-oxidation Resistance:

    • Purpose: To prevent rust and reduce the increase in resistance and heating caused by corrosion.

    • Explanation: A high-quality DIP switch should have good anti-oxidation properties. This prevents the copper parts from oxidizing in humid environments, ensuring a longer lifespan and maintaining electrical performance without degradation due to oxidation.

  3. Minimized Riveting:

    • Purpose: To reduce the risk of breakage at the riveted parts and minimize heating issues.

    • Explanation: The toughness of the DIP switch is crucial for long-term use, especially at the socket and plug portions. Good toughness ensures that, even after prolonged use, the switch will maintain its shape and functionality, ensuring a secure connection between the socket and plug while reducing arcing.
