IP67 12*12 Tactile Switch's Product Structure and Operating Principle

12×12 waterproof tactile switches typically consist of the following components: Base and cover plate: Made of PA66 material, forming a sealed cavity through laser welding or ultrasonic welding to prevent moisture ingress. Metal Spring Contact: Serving as the core conductive component, made of phosphor bronze or stainless steel for high elasticity and fatigue resistance. Contact Point: Conductive contacts (e.g., silver-plated contacts) positioned beneath the spring contact connect to solder pads on the PCB to complete the circuit. Sealing Components: Such as silicone gaskets, waterproof O-rings, or secondary-molded insulating seals covering critical areas to block moisture ingress.

Work Process

Pressing Operation: When the user presses the switch surface, external force is transmitted through the cover plate to the metal spring leaf. The leaf deforms and depresses, causing the contact to engage with the PCB pad, thereby completing the circuit. 

Releasing Operation: After releasing the finger, the spring leaf returns to its original shape due to its inherent elasticity, causing the contact to disengage from the pad and break the circuit.

Waterproofing Process 

Sealed Chamber: The base and mounting slot form an enclosed space, sealed against external water ingress by a snap-fit waterproof membrane. 

Drainage Design: Select models feature drainage holes to prevent performance degradation from water accumulation. 

Humidity Monitoring: An integrated micro-humidity sensor continuously monitors humidity levels within the mounting slot, triggering an alarm mechanism when thresholds are exceeded.
